University Radio Nottingham is the multi-award–winning university radio station of the University of Nottingham Students' Union. During term-time we broadcast locally on University Park Campus on 1350AM and worldwide via our website.
URN has been broadcasting on University Park since November 1979.The station was originally based in the Cherry Tree building behind the Portland Building. In 2003, with the demolition of these building, URN was moved to the lower ground floor of the Portland Building, where we currently broadcast from twenty-four hours a day during term time. We currently locally broadcast nineteen hours of live shows each day, more than any other radio station in Nottingham!
We have over three hundred members, who everyday present and produce radio programmes, report the news, and work to maintain the station. Our output is a mix of daytime entertainment programmes, student-focused news and discussion shows and a broad range of specialist music programmes covering almost every genre of music.
We have held the title of Best Student Radio Station for two years running and have won more Student Radio Awards than any other station. These awards are judged by some of the most prominent figures in the radio industry, from across the BBC and commerical radio.
You can get involved with URN as a presenter, producer or reporter and you'll get all the training you need to make it on-air. If news is your thing, then URN is a great opportunity to get broadcast journalism experience in our professional studios. If you're more technically minded, we're always looking for new recruits to keep our studios in tip top condition, work on a variety of outside broadcasts and develop exciting new audio and computing projects.
