Ice Hockey – Match Preview

11th February 2010

The biggest Varsity outside of America is back and URN are bringing it to you LIVE!

Varsity Ice Hockey returns for it’s 6th match in 2010 and looks like it may be the best yet as Trent try and regain their honour after suffering a humiliating defeat in 2009; losing 6-1. However in the history of Ice Hockey Varsity, Trent dominates, leading 4-1, with last year being Uni’s first victory!

Here is the interview when the URN Sports team caught up with the two coaches for this years Varsity contest:

Varsity is a unique time for the Ice Hockey as they have to split in two to create the Varsity teams as they usually unite to form the Nottingham Mavericks which are a composite team made up of students and staff from Uni & Trent.

The Mavericks compete in each of the three Divisions of the BUIHA Cup Competition, in addition to each of the three Tiers of the BUIHA National Championships. There are four teams in the club, making the Mavericks the biggest universities ice hockey club in the UK. They are also arguably the most successful, having won all of the BUIHA trophies on offer in the past four seasons at least once.
