SamO pulls out of Presidential Campaign

In breaking SU elections news, Presidential candidate, Sam O’Flaherty has withdrawn his candidacy for the position. Will Burks (Returning Officer) and George Wright (Democracy and Communications Officer) on behalf of the Elections Committee released the following statement:
“During the opening days of campaigning in the Students’ Union Elections 2011; Elections Committee received a significant number of Grievances against presidential candidate, Sam O’Flaherty. After careful consideration of the evidence; Elections Committee came to the view that he had gained considerably unfair advantage in the elections. After Elections Committee had discussed this with him, Sam informed Elections Committee of his decision to stand down yesterday evening (2nd March 2011). Elections Committee regrets any candidates withdrawal from the Elections and would like to note that Sam has had made significant contributions to the Students’ Union in his time at University and hope he continues to do so.”
