Saturday Sport Show 27-10-12

27th October 2012

This Saturday saw Gaffers, George, Simon, Rob and Dave pull no punches as they tackled the in-house problems at Red Bull and MacLaren on the eve of the Indian F1 Grand Prix, as well as looking forward to Sunday night’s NFL game at Wembley: St Louis Rams vs New England Patriots.

But the NFL analysis didn’t end there – prompted by a text into the studio we pondered how the American practices of drafting players and wage caps would affect sport in the UK. We then gave our verdicts on Nottingham Forest and Notts County’s chances this season as they face Barnsley and Doncaster respectively. And we also gave a shout to the Nottingham Hoods Basketball team, who are at the top of English Basketball League 3, going unbeaten so far this season.

We then moved on to the day’s Premier League games, predicting woe for Aston Villa this season, as well as predicting a comeback for Manchester City after their midweek humiliation in Amsterdam. And George questioned the value of Andy Carroll to any team, let alone West Ham.

And finally we gave our predictions for tomorrow’s big games: the Merseyside Derby and Chelsea vs Manchester United. Simon, URN’s resident Liverpool fan, was as optimistic as ever, but could paper over the fact his team faced a major challenge against Everton on Sunday. Likewise we predicted United would struggle against an in-form Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
