Saturday Sport Show 3-11-12
3rd November 2012
This Saturday Gaffers, Justin, Patrick, Simon and James broke into an action-packed weekend of sport with their predictions for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where Louis Hamilton has been unexpectedly dominant, and the two-horse race for the Drivers Championship between Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso has shifted further in the young German’s favour. We also discussed how England’s preparations were going for their imminent tour of India, focusing in particular on the return of the prodigal Kevin Pietersen.
Next up, we congratulated Lionel Messi and family on the birth of his first child, Thiago Messi, and couldn’t help but wonder what potential footballing talent the little lad might possess! We went on to speculate on the potential of other footballing youngsters like Benjamin Aguero (son of Sergio and grandson of Maradona), Kai Rooney, and the Beckham clan. We then moved on to discuss a rather more sobering topic – the controversy surrounding Chelsea Football Club’s accusations of racism against Referee Mark Clattenburg, and the consequences this would have for English Football.
As is customary on Saturday, we gave our predictions for local teams Notts County and Nottingham Forest. We expected County to advance to the next round of the FA Cup as they travel to face an unimpressive Portsmouth side, while Forest will be looking to gain momentum as they host Millwall in the Championship.
In our final section, we gave our predictions for the afternoon’s Premier League games. Whilst hoping for excitement and goals in Fulham’s game vs Everton and West Ham’s game vs Manchester City, we held out less hope for Sunderland vs Aston Villa and Norwich vs Stoke City.
