A Very Sporting Christmas
11th December 2012
In this week’s issue of the Tuesday Sport Show, Sam, Justin, Barney, Luke and Gaffers hosted special guests the Fantasy Football Society, who unveiled this month’s winner and gave information about what the Society is all about, how to join, and the funds that they raise for charity. They even gave a few tips for how to maximise your own gains in the fantasy leagues!
Next up, the team discussed the difficulties being faced by two very different boxers, Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, in the wake of their respective defeats. Whilst Pacquiao has a golden record of victories to look back on, the panel agreed that unless he wins his next fight on Sunday night, Khan will have lost his last chance to meet the promise that his career once showed. We also heaped praise on England’s cricketers on the eve of their final test of the series against India, which could see them cap off a series victory which was seen as almost entirely off the cards a few weeks ago.
The result of the Manchester Derby was next on the agenda, with the entire squad asking serious questions of Roberto Mancini’s approach, as well as his continued faith in the likes of Mario Balotelli & Samir Nasri. The team also tried to get to the bottom of Tottenham’s inability to hold a game for the last 10 minutes of a match, and discussed the potential of Arsenal’s Cazorla-Arteta-Wilshere midfield trio as the season progresses. We also mused as to whether Demba Ba would seek a move away from the Toon in January.
In the final section the team discussed the bottom of the Premier League table, with Sunderland’s ongoing woes and general lack of team rhythm being put under the microscope. The team were similarly sceptical of Reading & QPR’s prospects. We finished, in a display of genuine Christmas spirit, by predicting which teams would be relegated.
