Varsity Men’s Basketball Report

27th April 2015

UoN 82-56 Trent

Men’s basketball post-match interview:

In a match littered with fouls, the men’s basketball team took the momentum gained from the women’s into the men’s game, University of Nottingham winning a close fought battle.

After what panned out to be a comfortable 82-56 win, UoN take a 2-0 lead into the rest of the varsity series.

In a scrappy and tense first half neither team was able to capitalise on the abundance of free throws. Uni of took a slender 14 point lead into the second half thanks to some clever attacking ingenuity from MVP Carberry, with the forwards capitalising on some defensive errors, converting the 3 points.

With Trent chasing the game in the 2nd half we witnessed a more open period of play, playing right into Uni of’s hands allowing them to capitalise on the lack of numbers defensively.

In truth, both games were easy victories for Uni of with their quality showing when it mattered. The cheerleader’s battle at half time proved more closely fought than the actual basketball.
