Hangovers Match Report: Second Big Lewandowski game

16th March 2017

URN Hangovers FC 4-1 The Big Lewandowski

In what was the hottest day of the year so far, the URN Hangovers produced a sizzling performance to put The Big Lewandowski to the sword for the second time in as many weeks.

The boys in purple took a deserved lead through the impressive McGrath who, along with Butler, were making their first appearances of the season. Despite the ease with which URN controlled the game, complacency seemed to set in. Following a missed clearance by Mehta, and erratic goalkeeping from Scotland, Big Lewy restored parity. For the rest of the half, URN lacked any cutting edge.

The second half however proved an entirely different story. Despite his impaired vision, Perkins threw on the blonde duo of Knight and Clay, who saw the Hangovers regain their pace and movement in attack. An incisive counter attack led by the towering URN captain eventually ended up at Knight’s feet, who calmly placed the ball in the back of the net. Almost straight from the opposing kick off, Clay took the game by the scruff of its neck with a fine solo effort to make it 3-1.

The Hangovers were not finished yet, as Chin battled his way to the edge of the area, squaring across for the ubiquitous lanky lad up top (Knight) who thundered the ball into the top corner. Former goalkeeper Dom Nolan nearly had the last laugh, following a mazy run from another man donning a fine hair accessory.

A brace from Knight sees him pull clear in the Golden Boot race, with 14 goals since September

The 4-1 win sees the Hangovers consolidate the play-off places, whilst The Big Lewandowski stay rooted to the bottom of IMS League 1 table.
