Red Light Company

Red Light Company came into the studios before they played the Bodega Social Club in Nottingham. The band played their track Scheme Eugene which had massive air-play on the station and around the country. Singer Richard chatted to Sameer about the band's strange combination of members from all over the globe and the success of Scheme Eugene.

Black Kids

The After Dark team from Thursdays, Sam (From the Evening Show) and Ash (From Radio ClubFoot) went down to interview the bassist from the Black Kids before their gig at Trent Union on Halloween.

Obstacle One

Rob Swaine and Rob Hubbert, a.k.a Obstacle One, came into the studios to chat to Sameer about how student DJs can get involved with the Nottingham scene, how they formed and what they had planned for the future. They also handed over a half an hour mix they did especially for URN. The mix can still be found on their myspace page, www.myspace.com/pcgotmac.

Questlove

Sameer was extremely lucky to interview an absolute icon and one of the most important people in current music history, the drummer for the Roots, Questlove. Not only does Questlove drum for The Roots, one of the biggest bands in the world, who have collaborated with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Mos Def, Jill Scott and Q-Tip, he also acts as a music director for the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye West, hand-picking their live bands. He talks to Sameer about the history of the Roots and the emergence of the Philapdelphia scene.

Tom from the Monday night evening show went down to Rock CIty to meet Yannis from Oxford rockers Foals before their gig in September. He chatted about touring on both sides of the Atlantic and the band's ambitions to avoid being labled as one-hit wonders.

Ladyhawke

Pip Brown, aka Ladyhawke, chatted to Tom on the phone after supporting The Black Kids at Trent SU the night before. Pip told us about learning to sing in french for a remix of her hit 'Paris is Burning'and gave us some tips on bands making it big from back home in New Zealand.
