Nightmare Before XmasNightmare Before Xmas

On this coming Monday (24th October), The Radiolab will be hosting a unique After Dark show in collaboration with All Tomorrow's Parties. All Tomorrow's Parties, known colloquially as ATP, is one of the largest independent concert promoters in the UK and US, as well as having a record label and putting on several festivals annually - held at Butlins - of the same name. The festivals feature a line-up hand picked by curators, ensuring a diverse variety of artists play: previous curators have included everyone from alternative rock giants such as Portishead and Pavement to modern greats such as Animal Collective and Yeah Yeah Yeahs - even Simpsons creator Matt Groening has curated, twice in fact!

On Monday's show we will be looking back at the first quarter of 2011 and picking out the tracks and records that we think matter the most, and that deserve your time - some of which already look like contenders for end-of-year lists.

We'll be playing big-hitters in the alternative field - think Radiohead, PJ Harvey, TV On The Radio and The Strokes; up-and-coming acts such as The Smith Westerns, James Blake, Toro Y Moi and Yuck; plus some varied, innovative sounds from the likes of Teeel, Nicolas Jaar, tUnE-yArDs and The Weeknd. Irrespective of genre or popularity, we'll be aiming to bring you the cream of 2011's crop.

Expect LCD Soundsystem, Battles, !!!, Maximo Park, Jamie Lidell and Grizzly Bear.

We'll also be going through some of our regular features such as 'Nott's News', where we go through the musical goings-on in Nottingham, 'Music News', where we will give you a run down of all the latest and biggest music related news. As well as what's 'Hot Off The Press' and will be 'On Repeat' this week at the Radiolab.
