URN's AGM 2015 - Manifestos

posted 28.04.15 at 6:18pm

With the AGM set for Thursday 7th May in Portland C11, now is your chance to read through the manifestos for all the Candidates running. They will make a 1 minute speech on the night, and after this the floor will be open for questions to the potential candidates. Remember you have to be a PAID member of URN to either run or vote in the URN AGM - you can buy membership on the SU website.

STATION EDITOR
(Please note how this particular vote works: The person with the most votes will be elected Station Editor and the person with the second most will be elected Deputy Station Editor. For this role only, candidates are also invited to run for another Committee position in the event that they do not achieve either Station Editor or Deputy Station Editor)

Hannah Alderton

I came to university knowing that I wanted to get involved with student radio. During my time at URN I have been a Daytime and Speech presenter as well as Playlist Editor. My manifesto points have the overall aim to bring the station together as a team and give members the opportunity to get the best out their time at URN.

Information sessions:
-Monthly meetings where every member of the station is invited to discuss any ideas they would like to put forward.

The Elections Show - President

The Presidential CandidatesThe Presidential Candidates

On Thursday 12th March, we welcomed the Presidential Candidates into the URN Studios for the last installment of The Elections Show. Our show designed to get to know the candidates behind the manifestos. We've seen their manifestos, we've seen them around campus...but who are they?!

Tonight saw the return of 'The Biggest Twit' for the last time, as our resident stalkers took to the Presidential Candidates social media accounts to dig up their embarrassing social media past...

A brand new game for the Presidents, and inspired by the manifestos of Candidates from this year and past years too, we played 'Manifesto Bingo'. The Candidates had to pick one word from three mugs; the first contained classic manifesto buzz-words, the second places around the University of Nottingham and then lastly, a completely random word. The Candidates then had to generate a manifesto point based on and including those three words.

The Education CandidatesThe Education Candidates

On Wednesday 11th March, we welcomed the Education Candidates into the URN Studios for the third instalment of The Elections Show. Our show designed to get to know the candidates behind the manifestos. We've seen their manifestos, we've seen them around campus...but who are they?!

First up, we played CamPAIN with the candidates. If the Candidates are going to be next year's Education Officer then surely they'd be able to name all the Schools and Faculties at Uni right?! Not only were they tested on this, but if they couldn't think of one they'd have to hold on to our infamous electric ball! If they named one correctly, they'd pass to another Candidate.

Yet again, (apologies to the Presidential Candidates in advance!) our resident stalkers took to the Candidates' twitter accounts to unravel their embarrassing social media past...

The Equal Opps and Welfare CandidatesThe Equal Opps and Welfare Candidates

On Tuesday 10th March, we welcomed the Equal Opps and Welfare Candidates into the URN Studios for the second instalment of The Elections Show. Our show designed to get to know the candidates behind the manifestos. We've seen their manifestos, we've seen them around campus...but who are they?!

The show was CRAZY today...I don't think anyone in the studio knew what was going on...

First up, we played CamPAIN with the candidates. Geography has the highest turn-out in the voting so far...so geography know the elections, but do the elections know Geography?! The Candidates had to name countries throughout the alphabet whilst passing around our infamous electrical ball!

A classic, that is sure to feature heavily this week (apologies to the Education and Presidential Candidates in advance!) Our resident stalkers took to the Candidates' twitter accounts to unravel their embarrassing social media past...

Lastly, in the words of the legend that is Bob Marley; 'When Music hits you, you feel no pain'. So as the Candidates running for Welfare, how good were they at guessing song intros to feel-good songs?!
