Callum Morris
Manifesto
Throughout my time at the University of Nottingham, the Student’s Union has been fundamental in every aspect of my experience, whether that be academic, sporting or any other activities. I’m running as a candidate for President and my policies are below:
Getting more for your money
• Increase in printer credits at start of each term
• Hidden course costs revealed at earliest stage possible
• Introduce a Sunday Jubilee hopper bus and heightened bus frequency on all routes during exam period
• SU’s spending becoming more transparent
Becoming more employable
• Increased promotion and assistance in helping students to find year long internships
Feel safer and more influential in your community
• Heightened CCTV in Lenton
• New schemes to make students feel safer within private housing
• Abolition of student parking permits in Lenton
Modernising your education
• Video recorded lectures
• ‘Chat room’ capabilities for tutors
Subsidised university gym membership
• Subsidised gym membership for those in University halls of residence, both on and off campus
Healthcare students having more flexible hours
• Healthcare student’s timetables to ensure that Wednesday afternoons are free for sports fixtures
Making the SU accessible with a ‘Lenton Hub’
• A ‘Lenton Hub’ in which students can access the university’s internet network, print off work using their credits, return library books and a point of information
• Officers to hold regular ‘drop-in sessions’
I would love the opportunity to represent the voice of 34,000 students to ensure that their experiences at university are fulfilled to their maximum potential by making sure the Student’s Union is providing every student with the opportunities and backing to support this. My experience of working on the WeekOne Exec and Seven Legged Committee this year has enabled me to gain valuable insight into the inner workings of the SU. After an incredible time here, I’d like to ensure that every student leaves feeling as if they have for the best out of Nottingham University and that the SU continues to maintain this standard.
More with Morris.
