Manifesto

The activities on offer at Nottingham were the reason I wanted to come here and I got involved from my very first day as a keen fresher. However, whilst the years I’ve spent as a member and an executive of a large number of societies and SRSs have been the best of my life, I firmly believe that, in a number of ways, the SU aren’t offering enough support to societies and SRSs and the members that they represent. So, I want to:

- Massively improve communication between SU event organisers and the societies and SRSs that are involved.

- Fight for better support (academic and otherwise) for students whose degrees are suffering because of their involvement in activities.

- Use SU resources to offer students opportunities that aren’t currently explored.

- Create management (or similar) workshops for society and SRS execs so that they can make the best use of their year.

- Create a system to offer extra support for societies’ and SRS’s large, special events and projects.

SU activities have been by far the biggest parts of my university life and so I’m already well-versed in the dynamic of the union and all the things it offers. If you’d like proof that I’ve been about, there’s a massive photo of me on the SU hub wall (which is pretty cool I think).

If you have any thoughts about how you’d like activities to run next year, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
