Manifesto

Setting-up a Speaker’s Corner (University Park & Sutton Bonington Campus)

The idea behind the speaker’s corner is to encourage and allow students to express and share their voices on the issues which affect them and our world today. Students can also use the corner to showcase their talents (i.e. singing, dancing, debating), and promote events. All activities will be video recorded and uploaded to the Student’s Union YouTube channel.

More investment in the University’s Student Crisis fund for International and home students

- Provide more financial assistance to students who are experiencing financial difficulties at some point during their degree.
- Continue to provide support through student services but also through the Student’s Union – Setting up a programme which enables SU representatives to work alongside and help students devise strategies on how they can generate more money at University.

Customizing the UoN App

- Improving the current user interface.
- Making the App more student orientated, allowing students to access their email, timetable, portal and moodle directly through the App.
- Enabling students to check and see what events/activities are going on during the week and by which societies. Students should also be able to use the App as a means of; checking for any job openings at the University, finding all useful contact information (i.e. Nightline, Cripps health centre), allowing students to advertise products (i.e old textbooks), etc.
Enhancing the student experience at the ‘touch of a button’ is the idea behind developing the App.

Late-night hopper buses during the exam periods

- Appealing to the University to allow hopper buses to run until 2-3am during the exam seasons to ensure that our students get home safe.
- Also, extending the bus route – Allow the late-night buses to pass through faraday road in order to account for students living off campus

Continuing the work that this/previous Student’s Unions have achieved

- Push to get all departments to approve video-recording in all lectures
- Encourage Women’s leadership in the University
- More multicultural events aimed at bringing international and home students together.
- Increase the number of temporary jobs available to students
- Encourage students to continue to form, organise and lead their own societies
