Experience
As the SU’s Environment and Social Justice Officer, I share many projects with the current Community Officer, and have been able to form productive working relationships with stakeholders at University and Council level. I have held various elected positions which have developed me as a campaigner and a representative. I lead several of the Union’s campaigns, including securing parking permit exemptions for students with disabilities, and if elected I would continue to deliver wins for students in the community.

Change
- I want landlords, the City Council and the University to treat all Nottingham residents, including students, with fairness. For students to become real masters of their time in Nottingham, and to truly be at the heart of our community. My priorities have been thought out over a year of intense engagement with our community issues to achieve this.
- Community Relations
- Get decision makers to prioritise the top student issues at the next general and local elections. A listening exercise to find out what these are and an accountability exercise to make it bite.
- Secure parking permit exemptions for students with disabilities, extenuating circumstances and placements.
- Encourage societies and SU staff to hold events off-campus; where students are.
Housing
- Create a user-fed Online Housing Forum for students to rate their experiences in private accommodation, so we can make informed choices about where we live.
- Empower students to understand housing accreditation and reform Unipol to protect our interests. Two strikes and out policy.
- Continue the Love Your Home Campaign. Publicise our Student Advice Centre and help systems to give more assistance to students moving into private housing.
Safety
- Work with the Council and University to provide better lighting, CCTV and cycle paths in areas where there are road safety/crime issues. See Station Road and Derby Road.
- Work with the Welfare officer to improve consistency of the personal tutor system to ensure all students are pastorally looked after.
Union
- Continue fighting for local change. Engage with the big political issues; campaigning against the privatisation of student debt, and a living wage for University staff.
- Provide in-role training to student committees/JCRs for accountability, wiser spending and development purposes.
