Raff Badrinath
Manifesto
At the end of the day, our education is the reason everyone is here and as your education officer, I want to make sure that you are getting the best possible academic experience you can. It won’t be easy but when the going gets rough…the Raff gets going!
- Synchronisation – Academic co-operation on all levels
- Distribute workload evenly across the academic year, to minimise student stress!
- Ensure workload is reflective of module credit weighting
- Swifter and more personalised feedback on assessments
- Transparency – Eliminate unclear and arbitrary academic practices
- Make criteria crystal clear when assessments are set and relate any feedback straight back to these criteria
- Students will never just receive a mark for coursework, but also justification as to why that mark was awarded – always.
- Make provisions for exam complaints easier
- Equality – Bring all schools up to the same standard
- Standardise use of technology across schools, including lecture capture
- More high-demand core texts available in libraries for all subjects
- More availability of exam scripts across modules and schools
- Efficiency – Make best use of our university’s fantastic resources
- Training sessions for staff about lecture capturing technology – (250/300 lecture theatres are fitted with the technology, why are they not being used?)
- Develop a set of minimum standards for the use of Moodle
- Make sure the Great Results Incident of 2013 never reoccurs – (Portal crash after results were released)
- Revitalisation – More engaging personal tutor involvement
- Develop a framework for personal tutors to follow, for more effective tutor meetings
- More frequent and longer meetings with your tutors when you want them
- Get tutors to fill out a short form detailing how they will approach their responsibilities at the start of each term – (only departments do this currently)
STEERing us to a better education.
