Manifesto

Being the Sports Officer this year and being heavily involved in the Union throughout my time at this University I have managed to gain a great insight into the way the union works, what it does and more importantly the areas that need improving. This year I have worked hard to ensure that the students’ voice is heard in all matters relating to sport and I would love the opportunity to take that further and ensure that the University listens to what you, the student population, need to make your time here at University the best it possibly can be.

1. Implore the University to treat Students as partners NOT customers in all that they do.

2. Provide a matching Union Service to all students on all campuses’ whilst ensuring that satellite campus’ retain their identity.

3. Change the meal card system to introduce roll over credit and a top up service for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

4. Ensuring ALL students feel safe, welcome and empowered upon their arrival each year and incorporating course based societies and ALL SRS’ thoroughly into the welcome program.

5. Increase and create more social learning spaces.

6. Retain the quality of the careers service but also working with the individual to create a bespoke career outcome that they want.

7. Enhance the student voice such as representation on university staff recruitment and transparency in all that the union does.
