Experience

In the past, I have been a mentor for students transitioning from primary school to secondary school. I feel like I can apply what I learnt from this role as the transition to University can be just as stressful for a student, if not more. This role has also made me mature with sensitive issues and I will be able to deal with all aspects of the position.
I have spent some of my summers as a voluntary carer for Elderly People. This role proves my dedication to helping the community and shows I have the patience required for this type of role.

Change

My main policies are:

  1. Increase awareness that you can be checked for all STDs at Cripps Health Centre.
  2. Create a mentoring system for all students who require one, especially aimed at international and exchange students who may be finding the culture adjustment difficult.
  3. Adjusting the Student Crisis Fund system, to make it faster and easier for students with financial difficulties to access. I want it promoted in a way that doesn’t make students feel embarrassed to apply.
  4. To eliminate the stigma around Nightline and give Nightline volunteers an increased platform for promotion.
