Experience
In the past, I have been a mentor for students transitioning from primary school to secondary school. I feel like I can apply what I learnt from this role as the transition to University can be just as stressful for a student, if not more. This role has also made me mature with sensitive issues and I will be able to deal with all aspects of the position.
I have spent some of my summers as a voluntary carer for Elderly People. This role proves my dedication to helping the community and shows I have the patience required for this type of role.
Change
My main policies are:
- Increase awareness that you can be checked for all STDs at Cripps Health Centre.
- Create a mentoring system for all students who require one, especially aimed at international and exchange students who may be finding the culture adjustment difficult.
- Adjusting the Student Crisis Fund system, to make it faster and easier for students with financial difficulties to access. I want it promoted in a way that doesn’t make students feel embarrassed to apply.
- To eliminate the stigma around Nightline and give Nightline volunteers an increased platform for promotion.
